Railway Recruitment 2018: Last date to apply for nearly 89,000 vacancies extended till March 31

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) extended the last date for the online registration process of Group D and for assistant loco pilots and technicians posts to the end of March.
"Earlier, the last date to apply for these posts was March 5 and 12, 2018, however, due to change in eligibility criteria for Class 10th only, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal had indicated an extension of the deadline. Candidates who have not applied until now can follow the instructions below and apply online on or before March 31, 2018," as reported by News18.

BLIND CANDIDATES:

Moreover, the railway ministry recently told the Delhi high court that it will allow blind candidates to appear in its recruitment examinations.
The response came on a plea by National Federation of the Blind challenging two recent notifications according to which the blind were barred from appearing for the railways' recruitment exams, as reported by HT.

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Go to the official website
  • Select the RRB to which you would like to apply. Please be aware that, RRB once selected cannot be changed after registration
  • Enter your registration details
  • Verification of email ID and mobile number through OTP
  • Make your payment
  • Upload colour photograph
  • After submitting the same, the application procedure will be completed
  • Take a printout for future use.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

ALP/TECHNICIAN GRADE III:

Eligibility criteria: Matriculation/SSC/ITI or diploma, degree qualification
Age limit: 18-28, relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC Category is by three years and OBC is by five years
Application fee: For unreserved: Rs 500; For SC/ST/Ex-servicemen/Persons with Disability/Women/ Minorities/ Transgender and Economically Backward Classes: Rs 250

GROUP D POSTS:

Eligibility criteria: Class 10th pass with ITI
Age limit: 18-31 as on July 1, 2018
Application fee: For Unreserved: Rs 500; For SC/ ST/ Ex-servicemen/ Persons with Disability/ Women/ Minorities/ Transgender and Economically Backward Classes: Rs 250

SELECTION PROCESS:

Candidates would be required to appear in a Computer Based Test or CBT.
Based on the performance in the CBT, which would be a 90 marks paper with negative marking, candidates would then be called for medical test or Physical Efficiency Test or PET.
Shortlisted candidates would then be provisionally allotted on the basis of the verification of the documents.

  • Last date of Post Office Challan: March 29
  • Recruitment Exam: April/May 2018 (tentative)

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2017.
